Hello,
The New York Cold Fusion User Group will host a talk titled "The
Future Now: Leveraging Longhorn with XAML and Cold Fusion" by Ben
Cantlon and Ingo Muschenetz (XAMLON, Inc.) on November 9th @ 6:30
The summary states:
Microsoft is taking the advice of others. This is to separate code
from display, and to not have them all done in the same place. They've
taken this to the point of saying that their next release of Windows,
code-named Longhorn, will have its front end logic written in XAML
(the entire front end code-named Avalon) and the back end web services
and other data communication code named Indigo, written in some other
language (Visual C, or some other .NET language).
This is a wonderful idea, and one that programmers have been accepting
for years. The problem is that you can't get access to Longhorn yet,
and won't for a couple of years, at least. This is not a problem
because along comes a company called XAMLON. What they have done is
released a working implementation of XAML that cannot only be used
today, but will be continually updated to match the XAML spec so that
by the time Longhorn does come out, you will be above the curve, ready
to use it, and have applications already written for it. But there are
actually advantages to using XAMLON's implementation of XAML, rather
than Microsoft's. This is something that will be asked in the meeting.
So please come, learn all about XAML, how you can use it today, why
you would want to use it today, and ask lots of questions.
